Big Brothers/Big Sisters of Finney County

Big Brothers Big Sisters of America, Finney County Chapter, is a Congressionally chartered national non-profit organization with over 500 affiliated agencies across the United States and Puerto Rico. Our services are based on the premise that one-to-one friendship with an adult can provide the support a child needs to grow an mature in a positive way. BBBSA has been meeting the needs of children for over 90 years.

Nearly 3 million children in the United States are growing up without adequate parental support-many of them in single parent households. In this area of Southwest Kansas, research shows that the socioeconomic, ethnic, and religious backgrounds are varied, but the needs of the children remain the same: To grow into healthy, productive members of our community, these children need addional adutl companionship, guidance and understanding.

Do you want to make a difference? Big Brothers and Big Sisters of Finney County needs you! Growing up today is hard work. But as hard as it is for some kids, there is help--a Big Brother or Big Sister can be a friend, role model, and a mentor. Big Brothers and Big Sisters can show a child that no matter how difficult things get at times, there's always someone special there for them. Someone who will listen, someone to spend time with, someone willing to commit to a child from a single parent home, for three to five hours a week.

A big brother or big sister is not a substitute parent, or a babysitter, but a friend--a friend who can make a major impact on a child's life. It starts with you--If you can be that friend, call today to get involved at 275-2424. You can make a difference in a child's life.
